Today is the 140th Birth Anniversary of the apostle of peace and the father of the nation, none other than Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi or just 'Baapu'. Born on 2 October 1869 at Porbandar in Gujarat, Gandhi was the pre-eminent political and spiritual leader of India during the Indian independence movement. He was the pioneer of satyagraha-resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, firmly founded upon ahimsa or total non-violence.
He summed up the entire philosophy of his life as: "The only virtue I want to claim is truth and non-violence. I lay no claim to super human powers: I want none".He is officially honoured in India as the Father of the Nation; his birthday is commemorated as Gandhi Jayanti, and worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence.
He taught us a lot, and will continue to do so till the eternity. His words and his thoughts will live on forever with us. We need to reaffirm his ideals in today's world and hence witness the magic ...
