HAPPY APRIL FOOLS' DAY ...

Unlike most of the other non-foolish holidays, the history of April Fool's Day, sometimes called All Fool's Day, is not totally clear. There really wasn't a "First April Fool's Day" that can be pinpointed on the calendar. It is believed that it sort of evolved from celebrations involving the first day of spring.
However, its origin can be traced back toFrance in 1582. Prior to that year, the new year was celebrated for eight days, beginning on March 25. The celebration culminated on April 1. With the reform of the calendar under Charles IX, the Gregorian Calendar was introduced, and New Year's Day was moved to January 1.

VOTE EARTH... YOUR LIGHT SWITCH IS YOUR VOTE...

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming.

For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and backgrounds have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. WWF is urging the world to VOTE EARTH and reach the target of 1 billion votes, which will be presented to world leaders at the Global Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen 2009.

This meeting will determine official government policies to take action against global warming, which will replace the Kyoto Protocol. It is the chance for the people of the world to make their voice heard.

In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

We all have a vote, and every single vote counts. Together we can take control of the future of our planet, for future generations.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.

Saturday, March 28, 8:30-9:30pm.
(If you missed this one.... don't worry..... let us celebrate each hour as Earth Hour)

Let's Dare To Dream Once Again !

Hello everyone
This time we just want to share that it's The Great Bhagat Singh's Martyr Day today (September 27,1907 - March 23, 1931)....And no, we are not curious about this day or date but about the ideals that were born along this great and energetic revolutionary !
In his own words, It is easy to kill individuals but you cannot kill the ideas. Great empires crumbled while the ideas survived...

It is a high time after almost 62 years of independence that we incorporate such intense feelings for our nation and people, in general. We ought to learn to pursue our dreams to the finish just as Bhagat pursued his dream of a Free India...
Let's dream together and work together to make India and The World a better place to live in...
And that says it all...

THE LIST IS STILL COUNTING, WE WONDER...

Oh our goodness! This day is becoming better every moment...How can we afford to let slip the name of, if somehow not the greatest but probably the most glorious scientist of all times,
ALBERT EINSTEIN (14 March 1879 – 18 April 1955).He was a German-born theoretical physicist, best known for his theory of relativity and specifically mass–energy equivalence, expressed by the equation E = mc^2. Einstein received the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics "for his services to Theoretical Physics, and especially for his discovery of the law of the photoelectric effect.

Einstein published over 300 scientific works and over 150 non-scientific works. In 1999 Time magazine named him the "Person of the Century", and according to Einstein biographer Don Howard, "to the scientifically literate and the public at large, Einstein is synonymous with genius."

We thank you all for sharing your views, thoughts, suggestions and opinions with us for this is what blogging is all about.Don't you agree??????

IT'S CELEBRATIONS TIME WITH OUR VERY OWN PI...

Pi Day is a holiday held to celebrate the mathematical constant π (pi). Pi Day is observed on March 14 (3/14) ,due to π being roughly equal to 3.14.

Pi Minute is also sometimes celebrated on March 14 at 1:59 p.m. If π is truncated to seven decimal places, it becomes 3.1415926, making March 14 at 1:59:26 p.m., Pi Second (or sometimes March 14, 1592 at 6:53:58 a.m.).

The Pi Day celebration includes public marching, consuming fruit pies and playing pi games... The founder of Pi Day was Larry Shaw,a now retired physicist at the Exploratorium who still helps out with the celebrations.

We would also like to note that students of x class, this year, are celebrating this festival most enthusiastically as they are more than just happy to appear for their Mathematics Boards Examination on this very mathematical day...

HAPPY Milad-un-Nabi and HOLI

The word "Milad" has been derived from "Viladut" which means 'birth'. Hence, Milad signifies the place and time of birth. According to Islamic Shariah, Milad is remembered as the term of events that took place at the time of the birth of the Holy Prophet.

The Hijri date 12 Rabi Awwal (one of the twelve months of the Islamic Calendar) is the Islamic birth date of Prophet Mohammed born in 570 C.E. Muslims celebrate this occasion as "MILAD-UN-NABI" throughout the month of Rabi Awwal.

Holi is an ancient festival of India and was originally known as 'Holika'. The festivals finds a detailed description in early religious works such as Jaimini's Purvamimamsa-Sutras and Kathaka-Grhya-Sutras. Historians also believe that Holi was celebrated by all Aryans but more so in the Eastern part of India.

It is said that Holi existed several centuries before Christ. However, the meaning of the festival is believed to have changed over the years. Earlier it was a special rite performed by married women for the happiness and well-being of their families and the full moon (Raka) was worshiped.

Bright colors, water balloons, lavish gujiyas and melodious songs are the ingredients of perfect Holi.
Wishing You A Very Happy and Wonderful Holi
