Happy Independence Day!

Dear Reader,
Today is 15 August 2016. Exactly 70 years have passed since we, Indians, under the very courageous leadership of the likes of Gandhi, Nehru, Bhagat Singh and many others, won our independence from the imperialism of British rule.
At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom. A moment comes, which comes but rarely in history, when we step out from the old to the new, when an age ends, and when the soul of a nation, long suppressed, finds utterance ... We end today a period of ill fortune, and India discovers herself again ...... Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru
Anyways, the day is a national holiday in India. All over the country, flag-hoisting ceremonies are conducted. The main event takes place in New Delhi, where the Prime Minister hoists the National Flag at the Red Fort and delivers a nationally televised speech from its ramparts. A colourful pageant showcasing India’s cultural diversity, symbolic depictions of the country’s advances in science and technology, and a joint display of India’s military capabilities by the armed forces are an essential part of the Independence Day celebrations.
Principal, staff and students of our school also, religiously, conducted a special assembly in the name of India's 70th Independence Day.
