Dear all

Today is Krishna Janmashtami. Here's wishing you all a Very, Very Happy Janmashtami. This festival marks the birth of Lord Krishna, an avatar of God Vishnu. The festival falls between August-mid and September-mid months of the Gregorian calendar.

Rasa Lila or dramatic enactments of the life of Krishna are a special feature in the regions of Mathura and Vrindavan. Krishna is often depicted as an infant, as a young boy playing a flute as in the Bhagavata Purana, or as a youthful prince giving direction and guidance as in the Bhagavata Gita. He is considered to be the greatest fan of Maakhan. Click here to know more about this festival of a naughty, prankster God-child !
