Annual Day Celebrations 2009

Dear all

We are back to the pavilion! We hope that you all had a blast(not in terms of crackers!) this festive season. And now, we wish to scribble in the school's diary i.e. on the blog again! Through this post, we intend to acknowledge the magnificent efforts put in by everybody towards making the celebration of Annual Day 2009 truly successful. Events like this cannot happen overnight. Wheels start rolling weeks ago. It takes perseverance and a bird's eye for details.

Scheduled for October 15th, the function commenced at about 5:30 in the evening with a bang. Sh. A.S.Gill, Director General CRPF obliged to be the Chief Guest for the event while Mrs. Manjeet Gill, President CWWA, was the Guest of Honour. Former DGs were also cordially invited to grace the evening with their valuable presence. After a brief conversation with the school's prefectorial board, the guests proceeded to attend the main event.

The beginning of the function was marked by lighting of the lamp ceremony. Then came the choir group in its full glory to sizzle the stage. It was followed by a mesmerizing performance by the very talented instrumentalists of the school. Then the stage was flooded with the tiny tots beautifully performing in their ballet. The audience witnessed a scintillating act on the theme Natural Resources: A mission with a vision and was provoked to think about the plight of depleting natural resources and the uncertainties that our future holds for us.

After the junior ballet, the school presented the guests with saplings as a token of love for them. Then, Principal sir delivered his final speech as the school's head. He had a lot to say to his successors. His words of appreciation and inspiration left everybody brimming with emotions. He, then invited the school's Head Boy and the Head Girl to read out the school's Annual Report. Click here to see the report. Then the Guest of Honour was requested to release this year's edition of the school's magazine Srijun. Prizes were given away to the outstanding student achievers for the session 2008-09. The Vote of Thanks was proposed by the school's Head Girl.

Then came the turn of Senior Ballet- Rashmirathi Karna. Children were all geared up to give it their best shots. The act was based on a very relevant theme. It indirectly addressed the youth of today which feels paralyzed by some invisible factors to realize their full potential. Also, on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, the Head Boy and the Head Girl urged the assemblage to observe a Green Diwali this year and in the years to come to live in harmony with nature. The National Anthem was sung by all to mark an end to the Annual Day's celebrations.

We have just words of praise for all. Everybody was compelled to come out of their comfort zones to accomplish the various tasks assigned. Like everything else, it had to come to an end. Events like this give children a great platform to showcase their talents. We are very optimistic for the celebrations next year. It gets better with each passing year, and that's a great sign ! Watch out for the photographs here.
