The festival of Diwali, the festival of lights has finally arrived. And hence, first and foremost, we wish you all a very, very Happy Diwali. May this Diwali bring lots and lots of happiness to all of you. May this Diwali be the most sparkling and lightening.The sights and sounds filling up your heart with joy and happiness.Let this Diwali burn all your bad times and enter you in good times.

Diwali is a significant festival in Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism, and an official holiday in India. Adherents of these religions light diyas to signify victory of good over the evil within an individual. Diwali is the abbreviation of the Sanskrit word "Deepavali". Deepa meaning light and Avali, meaning a row. It means a row of lights and indeed illumination forms its main attraction.

The story behind Diwali varies from region to region, several significant events associated with it are Return of Rama to Ayodhya and The Killing of Narakasura. Diwali celebrations are spread over five days in India and all over the world. All the days except Diwali are named according to their designation in the Hindu calendar.

While Diwali is popularly known as the "festival of lights", the most significant spiritual meaning is "the awareness of the inner light".Many Diwali festivals have come and gone. Yet the hearts of the vast majority are as dark as the night of the new moon. The house is lit with lamps, but the heart is full of the darkness of ignorance.The sun does not shine there, nor do the moon and the stars, nor do lightning shine? All the lights of the world cannot be compared even to a ray of the inner light of the Self. Merge yourself in this light of lights and enjoy the supreme Diwali.

And on this auspicious occasion, E-club urges you all to celebrate a Green Diwali. In the simplest terms, we mean to say, DO NOT burn crackers. By doing so, you are actually saying NO to noise and air pollution and YES to Life! Many of the E-members are also strongly recommending a Diwali which is free from the cacophony of crackers and full of happiness and joy, through their blogs. Sensitize yourself and others towards this noble cause of celebrating Diwali in harmony with nature. That's all we got to put in words. Click here to know more...

Annual Function 2009

Dear all

Our school is celebrating its Annual Day on Thursday, i.e., on 15th October 2009. The function will witness mass participation from the students in various activities such as Orchestra, Choir, Dance etc.

Only participants and other students on duty are expected to come to school in proper school uniform on 12th October and 14th October according to the usual school timings i.e. from 7.25 a.m. to 1.40 p.m. There shall be full dress rehearsal on 13th October in the evening, and hence, only the students participating in junior and senior ballet are supposed to report at 3.00 p.m.The participants will reach the school at 2.30 p.m. on 15th October, The school's buses will ply on regular routes. The duration of the function is approximately 2 hours.

NO MOBILE PHONES : Due to security reasons, the school's authorities will NOT permit you to enter the school premises with mobile phones. Proper scanning system at all the entrances will make sure that nobody can enter with a mobile. Hence, it is strictly recommended that you don't carry your mobile phones to avoid any kind of inconvenience .

Do bring the invitation card along with you as the security personnel will demand for the same at all entrances.

The school will remain closed from 16th October to 19th October on account of Diwali.A circular has already been issued mentioning everything. In case of further queries, do write to us. We will be happy to prove to be of some help to you.

P.S. We will try our best to upload the photographs of the function as soon as we get them. Keep a track.

NOTE: Also, All the school's alumni who are interested to attend the function in all its glory and are willing to extend their helping hands for the smooth functioning of the event may contact Mrs. Rajul Tiwari, Mr. Amit Bajaj and Mr. R.P. Joshi to acquire the permission for the same. Getting an opportunity to meet your teachers, juniors and revisiting your loving institution is obviously an add-on. Though, without seeking prior permission from the school's authorities may cause last minute disappointment.

CBSE Class X Board Exams Optional !

CBSE has made X Boards Exams optional from academic year 2010-11

The announcement was made on 31st August, 2009. The government will be issuing guidelines soon in terms of actual road map for implementation.

THE REGULATION:

Union Human Resource Development Minister, Mr. Kapil Sibal on 31st August, 2009 announced a new directive for CBSE X boards.

• The Directive is for next academic year 2010-11.
• CBSE X board exams have been made optional.
• Focus on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)
• The evaluation system will be changed from marks to grades.

TRANSLATION:

Que. Class X Board Exams are optional. How does it work?

Ans. This has 2 implications:

• CBSE X Board Exams are Mandatory for Schools which have classes only till Xth Standard.
• Optional for Schools with classes till XII Standard.

Que. What will be the new Evaluation System?

Ans. A new system of evaluation has been put into place that lays emphasis on better understanding of concepts rather than one-time mugging during exams. This is being termed as CONTINOUS & COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION (CCE). Under Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), students will be evaluated throughout the year.

Now, there will be two terms in each year, not three. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) comprises of 2 assessments done over 2 terms - first and second.

Formative Assessment	Summative Assessment
Grading class work, homework, assignment and project work.	Based on the term-end exam.
2 evaluations each in the first and second term	The first term-end exam will carry 20 marks
Each evaluation will carry 10 marks	The second term end exam will carry 40 marks
Total of 40 marks from formative evaluation	Total of 60 marks from summative evaluation

Que. What is the new grading system and how does it work?

Ans. New Grading Scheme

Grades will be awarded to students on a 9-point grading system. Each grade will be given on the basis of formative and summative assessment and will correspond to a range of marks:

The Curious Case Of Class X Boards !

Hello everyone

HRD Minister Kapil Sibal seems successful in getting the eyebrows of the sane and the sensible people after as sensitive a issue as making Class X Board Exams 'optional'. And we are at it again...inviting your opinions, comments and suggestions on this very curious case that virtually defines each of our lives. Let's start a word-riot in the comments section, exercising our right of Freedom to Speech in free India and form public opinions.

With a motive of igniting and initiating, we blog down some of the pros and cons of 'abolishing' or making Class X Board Exams 'optional' :

Class X Boards should be abolished because -

1. The surmounting tension is intolerable (Parents are often more stressed out than the children and heap their worries and expectations on their children).

2. Presently, only re-tallying of marks is possible. In cases of students having good track records in school, a grievance redressing system (or simply re-checking) is nowhere to be seen.

3. When marks differ in decimals and when one feel cheated for not getting what one wanted despite achieving great results is unfair on his/her part.

4. Assessing a child on the basis of various scales (of the likes of sports/games, music, art, drama etc.) throughout the year will bear better results (after all, not every child born is necessarily a great academician, he/ she ought to be more than just that- beyond the limits of textbooks).

Class X Boards should not be abolished because -

1. It's a sweet nothing, it will simply postpone the fate (Having to sit for Boards in XII for the first time in a grand mix of career dilemma will only fuel to the rising tension!).

2. Without a standard exam, one doesn't know where he/she stands in this ever-increasing and ever-aspiring population that the mainland of India holds.

3. Appearing for these exams are not traumatic, it's coping with the dearth of opportunities, the fear of 'after-life' post poor results and the scarcity of seats that's traumatic.

4. Replacing percentages with percentiles (marks with grades) will not help a child secure a seat in a certain stream. We need more seats than the percentile system.

Our primary goal is to spread the word and to discuss to achieve constructive results. So, we urge you to bounce some ideas around and hence write as relevantly as you can to support the cause.

Well... ANJANA RAO topped with 95.4% marks, and ADITYA GARG and SEETU AGARWAL both bagged the second position with 93.4% and SAUMYA ARORA bagged the third position with 93.2%
Also, SAUMYA ARORA has scored 100% marks in Mathematics.
ANSHUMAN and DEEPAK WALI has scored 100% marks in IT.

IIT's 2009 Result... Congratulations!

Well...The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need no introduction either in India or abroad. The Institutes were set up by the Government of India as `Institutions of National Importance' and almost all reputed international academic benchmarks have given them high rating.There are seven IITs in the country located at Bombay, Delhi, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras, Guwahati and Roorkee.

Anyways, we earlier reported about the IIT's 2009 Result (Around 4 lac IIT aspirants appeared this year). It was incomplete however, as it's not just 1, but 3 students of our school who have cleared the examination for the main programme. Here are their names - Annirudh Singh , Eashan Srivastava and Kanwardeep singh. Congratulations to all of them.....We are proud of you...

And yes, there are many who made it to the extended programme as well; such as Prateek khurana, Anjali Malhotra , Deepanshu, Payod, Shagun Gupta, Siyaram, Siddharth, Manjeet, Anurag Kundu, Tarun, Varun, Jaishish Kaushik....and there may be many more !

We are happily and proudly posting about these talented guns of our school. We hope to have more such opportunities when we can post about such young achievers...

Bidding Farewell....

The afternoon of 13Th February witnessed the farewell ceremony of Twelthies of our school.The breeze felt soft, sweet and nostalgic.Students of XI standard danced, sang and hence declared to all that WE WILL MISS YOU.

Emphasising on the fact that it was perhaps THEIR last day in their school and that their school life will be snapped away from them forever, a group of students, in particular, showed them the "FLASHBACK" of their school life in the form of a musical drama which left everyone brimming with emotions....The event was complete with Mr. and Miss CRPF contest;Lady and Gentleman of the evening contest.

All the students were awarded suitable titles by their teachers and mentors that belonged to the person they were during their school life.However, the function exceeded the set time limit, which eventually hampered the overall success of the function as the conclusive Jam Session did not see the light of reality.And yes,the mouth- watering feast couldnot be forgotten.
And finally the function came to an end and so did the school life of twelthies...

We wish you a very bright future ahead....
