Communal Harmony Day
( on 23rd November 2012)
Students of Class IV &
V presented a program on the occasion of communal Harmony Day.
Tabassum Ansari ,
Shubhangi Sharma, Vaniya Alam, Cheshta Dass
of Class IV-C and Haramrit Singh and Hebin Jose of Class V-C presented
hymns from various religious scriptures and presented a talk about how
different communities are helping in bringing about harmony among them.
Khushi Aggarwal &
Vatsal Aggarwal of class IV-B also presented a talk about Communal Harmony.
COMMUNITY LUNCH
CLASS –III
On
20-11-12, a Community Lunch Programme was organised for class III children. It
was celebrated as a ‘No-Bag Day’ for children. Children were involved in
a variety of activities & competitions right in the morning. The day started
with a discussion session about table manners and good food habits. Children
learnt how they should conduct themselves while eating in a social gathering.
Later all children participated in English & Hindi handwriting competition.
Children also took a refreshing break by playing various indoor games like ludo,
puzzle cards, scrabble etc with their friends.
Later
children were taken to school mess for community lunch. Children started their
lunch with a short prayer. Children loved the mouthwatering spread of mix
vegetable , poori, chhole, rice, raita & sweets.
They
ate to their heart’s content. Children loved the experience & are looking
forward to the next one.
English Recitation
To equip the learners with basic language skills,
innumerable activities are organized time to time. These activities grant them
confidence to perform on stage today in school but later on the bigger platform
in future ahead.
Continuing the trend Poem Recitation Competition was
organized for students of Class V in English as well as in Hindi.
English Poem Recitation Competition was organized on
Nov 23,2012 and the event was judged by Ms. Smriti Guliyani and Mrs Avantika .
22 bravehearts from V-A,B and C enthusiastically participated in the
competition.

Hindi Poem Recitation Competition was organized on
November 24, 2012 and was judged by Mrs Seema Jain and Dr. Vijay Kumar. 35
students participated whole heartedly in the competition.

In order to inculcate
scientific skills the students of class V were taken to Bio and Biotech Lab in
the second week of November as a part of extension of class room activity.
The lesson Essentials of
Life (Air & Water) contained lot of activities few of them were
demonstrated in the lab with the help of Science teacher and Lab Assistant. The
activity demonstrated various methods used to remove soluble & insoluble
impurities from water such as evaporation, filtration, sedimentation, and
decantation. They were taken to Biotech Lab where they could witness the live
demonstration of double distillation of water. The children were very excited
to see it. They were able to identify various lab equipments How to handle
them. This gave an insight into the lab activities.
In addition to it they
could see the model of human skeleton where they could recognize the various
bones & joints of the body .They could study the Human Torso where they
were shown various internal organs of our body and where they are placed in the
human body collectively it was a great learning experience for the entire
class.
Maths Activities
Students of Class V
participated in two interesting activities related to area and 3-D shapes in
last week of October and 2nd Week of November. To understand how to
calculate area of an irregular shape, students worked in pairs and traced their
hands on graph paper. They counted the number of squares covered (FMH method)
inside the handprint to find out the area. Group activity of JODO pipes was
enjoyed by students a lot. They used colored pipes and connectors to make
different 3-D shapes like tetrahedron, cube, square pyramid, triangular prism
and octahedron. Some groups also tried their hands on complex 3-D shapes of
dodecahedron and icosahedron. They counted faces, edges and corners of each
shape also.
